El Toro
These paintings are inspired by El Toro, the bull.  The bull, in the context of the bullfight. The bull is a magnificent, powerful animal.  Seeing a bullfight in Las Ventas arena in Madrid, an evening in June, it is all about colour.  Red, orange, pink, yellow, lilac, blue and most definitely black.  All my paintings are about the colour of the bullfight.
I love El Toro. And yes he dies in an unfair fight. But for me it goes beyond that which is difficult to explain. Hopefully the paintings speak for themselves.

Me
I’ve always loved the act of painting. I get in there. There’s something about squeezing the paint out of the tube, the first brush marks on the bare canvas. Everything becomes quite physical and my body becomes part of the process.
And then you stand back and some sense of logic and order comes into play and the physical becomes more controlled and considered.
But the passion continues and sometimes you kill a painting and sometimes it just works.
