Alan is a passionate photographer who found that through a collection of tubes and boxes with the word Sony stamped on them he could express his creative vision by pointing them at objects, people, scapes and just about anything that showed the beauty of light, shade and texture.
His work is varied but shows a unique style that he has developed through persistence and an inbuilt perfectionist approach to not only capturing something magical but being able to develop that further in the digital dark room to convey something extraordinary.
Whilst photography is only a hobby for Alan right now, it is one he throws his energy, time and commitment into in pursuit of creating images that inspire and ask the viewer to look closer.
Alan decided to take up photography seriously in 2007-8 after attending a workshop with John Gravett of Lakeland Photographic Holidays. Special thanks has to go to John for his inspiration, guidance and friendship. Alan has already gained over 150 international exhibition acceptances with FIAP (Federation Internationale de l'Art Photographique) and over 50 acceptances with the most prestigious British photographic exhibitions (BPE) and has won many awards for his landscape shots. He qualified with the Royal Photographic Society and gained a "Licentiateship" in 2010 and aims to complete his Associate Distinction in 2012.
Alan also gives up a lot his spare time to run local photography meet ups and provide tuition and master classes to beginners and those looking to pursue their interest in photographic art. Away from photography Alan is an IT Change Manager by profession and father to 3 children so works hard to balance his time between his loved ones, passion and duty.
Alan originally directed his creativity through poetry and his love of music of all genres. These days this vision and emotion is clear to see in his images that are often inspired by his love of certain musical artists but also his ability to see beyond the normal view and express the poetry of light through his images and offer a view into his own soul.
